The Perfecting Primer

Does it plump? No.. not that I’ve noticed Does it hydrate a bit? Yes. But I didn’t purchase this for either of these reasons. I simply wanted a good primer after the coverfx one I used for years had its formula changed. This primer works perfectly for me no matter what season or weather I’m in! I’ve been using it for a few years now and it’s my favorite. I feel like it actually creates a true protective layer between my skin and the makeup. The only time I’ve experienced some flakeyness was when I’d use the La Mer oil as part of my skincare routine, then use this, then my foundation. If I leave the oil out of the routine then everything works as is should. I love how this doesn’t feel like it’s clogging my skin and a little goes a long way which helps justify the price point. Granted I barely wore make up in 2020/half of 2021… I’ve only gone through 1.5 of these since the end of 2019.

Why did I have to like this? $90 for a primer is ludicrous. But I have to admit this is pretty good. I wear it with La Mer foundation. Part of the reason why I bought this one is that though La Mer foundation is a perfect match for my skin tone, It does transfer easily on it own. So I went “all in” and purchased the primer which help a lot. This primer is pretty moisturizing, you can wear it without makeup. Very luxurious feel and scent. My skin is super dry/flakey and I’m very pale (type 1 skin). After using this other primers just hit different. The 40ml vial lasted me over a year. A little goes a long way for me.

Don’t waste your money

I purchased this “primer” during the Sephora VIB Sale and talk about underwhelmed. I purchased this because of its claims. It’s supposed to visibly hydrate, plump skin, blur skin for a soft focus effect. It’s a light moisturizer at best. It has zero blurring effect and does not make your skin feel plump at all. I have dry skin and it didn’t even hydrate my skin enough to apply my makeup. You are paying for the name and that’s it. There are plenty of other really great primers on the market for way cheaper. This is not worth $90 dollars. They should remark this as a light hydrator. Don’t waste your hard earned money.

Absolutely love this primer, my foundation just glides on and lasts. I have used with the La Mer soft fluid foundation, but also with other brands and love it with each one

disappointed

I got this a sample from lamer and am so glad I didn’t buy it. I usually love all lamer products but this one doesn’t make much of a difference when using. It’s slightly hydrating, but skin and pores don’t look smooth and filtered as when using other primers. Their illuminating one is good for a glow and hydrates better then this one. This one reminds me of a lotion more then a primer. For the price it not worth it. Only upside is doesn’t get super tacky, or cause creasing in the foundation.
